As a professional outdoor writer I have produced books on muzzleloading hunting, crossbows, bowfishing and many articles on environmental topics, knives, general hunting and outdoor living. My activities also include wild-game cooking and home management in the rural South. Often I will also do videos on topics that I think will have lasting value. These videos describe real-life situations and those on hunting often contain a touch of humor, and almost always something unexpected.

Well done, sir. I’m replacing my hose as we speak.
I like the stare head much better than a Phillips head though. Put some good penetrating oil on it, wait a few minutes then whack it with a hammer a few times to "shock" it. Q lot if times it works good
Nice job. Is that just a piece of plastic you made and fitted between the two pieces of wood?
That’s really cool. Much more interesting than bolting on a piece of plastic
That guard is primarily to duct cooling air around the fins. I say that so no one will remove it, engine cam over heat and cause serious problems
The valve seats are steel. Save that clutch if you can! They are expensive.
Try a hand impact driver on the flywheel. I've had good luck using them. It's a 3/8 drive, but comes with screw bits. I put a socket on them. A few good blows with a bigger hammer and it does good
GREAT VIDEO
Great stuff Hovey...you are my favorite new celebrity...i shoot a variety of old stuff too...my fav is a traditions muzzleloader with a fast twist...great for whitetails and squirrel (loaded down) its a short little carbine and comes up quick...like it.... thanks for great content and your perspective.. Everything I have is old too
Thanks for sharing.
Plastic derived from these coat hangers had a lower melting point, lower flash point, and was much more brittle that the plastic derived from the lawnmower operating nobs. This would be best used for repairs on static, non-stressed objects. Under vibrational stress it may crack when I operate the lawnmower and fall out. Time will tell.
I've taken thin walled pvc, get it pretty warm and you can lay it down on object to be repaired and mold it into shape. Then scribe area you need, cut it out then glass it in from rear, fill in the seen side with epoxy, sand, paint and go
Love learning more from you on so many topics. Thank you for this
Nice work Hovey. I was able to bag a turkey this year using an original muzzle loading shotgun. Your videos and book Extreme Muzzleloading were a prime motivator for this endeavor. As you have said just get em close enough and those old guns without a choke work just fine. Thanks for passing on some of your knowledge.
Glad to hear. It is always gratifying to learn that someone has had success using information from one of my books. If you have not, give it and others of my books likes on social media platforms.
I've taken a torch to mine while it was still molten lead in it and still on and twisted the plunger. It works most of the time for me
I’m proud to see someone else with my luck 🍀 🤣🤣not laughing at you just with you
The dipper is made by Lyman, not Lee.
Tires on .y trailer gove it up last week.
Hi Hovey, You are indeed the biggest (DIY) Do It Yourself creator on RUclips!
Sir I do not care what anyone says, you can not beat a king cab ford ranger that is in good condition. I have pretty much the same truck mine is a ford ranger edge with the 3.0 v6 and it gets me everywhere I need to go for hunting, fishing, and everything else.
Be glad it's not kudzu!!
Very nice to see you again, Mr. Smith
Pop rivets, solder gun with a flat tip, melted black tie as filler. Also if you had some extra hood plastic, add MEK and make a paste for bonding.
Way more meticulous than I would have been! I'd just cut a cardboard box and strap it on...Interesting to see how it will hold up to vibration. Email if you need any help around the house, my boy and I are free most Sundays.
Maybe not a brand new look but really 100% functional, using things available and a lot of creativity!
Duct tape and baling wire - a country boys fix all.
Informative, thank you
How did you get the display
What size belt did you install? I have the same mower, but the belt the deaer sold me won't fit?
Check out this URL and see what size your mower actually takes Husqvarna Mower Belt Size Chart
I’ve had a Mrs Tea since it came out, practically new, used only 3 times to make tea and always wonder if I can use it to make me a cup of coffee, it looks like YES..thank you for letting me know. Great video, blessings
Good luck, Father ❤❤
Don't feel bad hovey all I got this year was a Jake and only cause him and his buddy beat up my gobbler that was almost to my decoys and then they beat up my strutter decoy so I got a lil bit mad and then got even lol
There is also a little finch size bird called a Yellow Finch and the male of the species is a vibrant yellow.
Thanks Mr Hovey Smith for all your teachings on turkey hunting. I applied some of your techniques and got me a gobbler on the last day of the NC turkey season with a 11in beard, 1 1/4in spurs and it'll certainly be good table fare here soon. Great videos and God bless!!🦃🦃
GOOD VIDEO. TY
I love you Hovey Smith
Are you still alive?
Yep. Hope to be around for another decade or so.
Still posting RUclipss on the Hovey Smith Channel.
@@HoveySmith love this video Hovey! would be awesome to remake it!
Very informative Mr Smith
It's not designed for a 12 gauge shotgun shell the 12 gauge adapters for a 12 gauge flare gun shell
I have taken doe with my 45 Long Colt flare gun adapter at 14 yd from my blind so it does work good🇺🇸👍👍💯🇺🇸
I hope you geta turkey soon. I've only got a Jake so far but him and his friend were bigger than the gobbler was calling to. They whooped him and then whipped my decoy of course judicial predijust was used in the removable of one of said Jake's. Good luck to you sir
Hovey I see you did buy that new SITKA bug resistant camo! It looks like great stuff! I’m still relying on Permethrin to protect me against ticks for now. Might buy some when they go on sale in the FALL!
Have you done a video on cleaning a turkey after harvest?
buy a live chicken ask them how they do it and practice yourself.
@@davidkang6663 😆
Yes. I have several videos on cleaning and cooking wild tukeys.
@@HoveySmith thanks, I'll look them up
Keep on plugging away, my friend. It's always a pleasure to watch you
Those Italian /Greek dishes are really good. Thanks. Now i can preserve my pasta safely too.
I purchased one back in 1990. While they are somewhat cumbersome to carry and set up once you are they are so comfortable you can spend the day up there. Take a nap. Read. Look. With bow platform you can stand and stretch a bit. I just learned of the history and Mr Hice’s passing today in 2024. Sad to hear. That and the company. Happy trails Sir. You are a legend.
Calls for Ruger to resume making the ROA have, so far, fallen on deaf ears. Bill Ruger himself ended the ROA. He did so because of the .45 LC conversion. Since cap and ball pistols are not considered as guns by the ATF it can be purchased in some places without a NCIC's check or 4473. Adding the conversion creates a very real gun possibly purchased under veiled circumstances. Bill was having none of it. Don't expect the ROA to return.
you know what they say "Suns out, Guns out"
are the crumbs toasted?
They are stale bread and fried in olive oil. I did not find that these did anything worthwhile. They burned off when the meat balls were fried and were stuck to the bottom of my pan. If sticking is a problem, I would just lightly flour the meatballs. This is how they were cooked during the demonstration and in his cookbook, but this did not do anything for me. Perhaps I did not imbed them hard enough into the meat. .
Thinking about the breading, I should not have toasted it in olive oil. That is the reason that it did not stick to my meat balls, but did on Glanluca's.
❤❤ ❤awesome good job!!!❤❤❤
